The club was made very welcome by our hosts Strand Celtic on our recent pre-season trip for a friendly at the beautiful Strandhill Community Park Ground in Co. Sligo.
The match ended in a 4-3 win for Celtic. Seaford's own Sligo native Shane Gilroy gave the visitors an early lead but Dylan Martin leveled from the spot, with still only 4 minutes play.ed. The pacy striker Martin added a second before half time before completing his hat-trick after the break, with Kenny Ogun making it 4-1 straight afterwards. But Mate Salacan pulled one back for the Penguins with a brilliant effort from 40 yards, before substitute Eoin Kenny;s skilful finish set up a tense finale, but Strand held on for a deserved win on the day. Many thanks in particular to Seaford old boy Ryan McEnroe, now player-coach back at his homwtown club, who went to great length to make the event happen, and we look forward to welcoming the Sligo men to Dublin some day.
