Match Report: Wayside Celtic 3-0 Seaford Rock United
LSL Sat Major 1
Seaford were second best all over the pitch and were punished ruthlessly by an aggressive Wayside outfit.
The visitors did make a bright start and were left frustrated that they couldn't force an early goal when Sam Browne got to a loose ball in the Wayside goalmouth following Al Kennedy's corner but couldn't find the net
That was about as good as it got for the Penguins, as the hosts gained the upper hand, and took a commanding 2-0 lead with two goals in as many minutes. Left winger Matt Kelly had already gone close before he opened the scoring, taking advantage of lax Seaford defending of a big diagonal ball and lobbing David Higgins.
The second was an even more disappointing concession for Seaford, as they made a mess of a routine goal kick routine, presenting a golden chance to Richie O'Hanlon who made no mistake from the edge of the box.
The Kilternan side showed greater hunger and intensity, snapping into tackles and pouncing on loose balls as Seaford struggled to muster any sort of a comeback.
Man-of-the-match O'Hanlon put the outcome beyond doubt with a stunning volley in the 66th minute, and the match fizzled out as as a contest, with Dan O'Leary having the navy blues' best chance with his first touch off the bench for his debut, but he was denied by superb goalkeeping as Wayside deservedly prevailed.
Seaford: David Higgins, , Eoin Mahon (Ian Nolan, 77), Paul Tansey (Brian Murphy, 77), Mike O'Neill, Cian McGuinness, Sam Browne (Conor Geoghegan, 77), Al Kennedy, Ryan Scollard , Chris Monk ,Jack Burke (Adam O'Shea, 72), Harry Crowe (Dan O'Leary, 72)
