Match Report: Tallaght United 2-0 Seaford
Lanigan Cup, Semi-Final

Seaford showed a lot of heart and industry but missed out on a cup final after conceding in the dying stages of each half.
Tallaght dominated possession in the early stages and went close when Ryan Murphy met an Aaron Brady corner with a powerful downward header which Oisin Geoghegan gathered at the second attempt, before had Seaford's first sighter with his left, testing Stephen Kelly from range.
The reds continued to threaten, with Yohram Koudjou firing just over after collecting a brilliant cross-field pass from Ryan Williams, before Geoghegan did brilliantly to deny Brady, rushing off his line to smother after James Cummins had up his strike partner.
Scollard continued to look the most likely to make the breakthrough for the Penguins, and the closest he came was from a Thomas Murphy headed lay-in, as the Seaford striker knocked the ball around Kelly but was unable to apply the angled finish as defenders rushed back to cover the goalline.
Tallaght bagged the opening goal from the penalty spot , Brady converting on 41 minutes, but the visitors got on top of the game after half time, with Conor Fennell setting up Scollard again, to no avail, but the classy home side continued to create chances, with Williams heading just wide at the back post before Dylan Kelly shot just wide of the post amidst a crowd of panicked defenders.
As the game ticked past 90 minutes, Tallaght were reliant on a couple of brilliant defensive interventions to repel the Penguins' attacks. In a final desperate assault, Geoghegan joined the attack for a Brian Murphy corner. Yet again, United produced a brilliant defensive header and with the visitors goal unguarded, they only needed to avoid the offside trap to add a second, which Eric Harmon duly did.
Seaford's attention returns to the relegation dogfight , with a hectic schedule in the final weeks of the campaign.
