Match Report: Swords Celtic 0-3 Seaford Rock United
LSL Saturday Major 1
Seaford moved out of the relegation zone with a handsome win over struggling Swords Celtic.
Just as they had done when the sides met in the cup a few weeks previously, the Penguins were in front after just a minute. Ryan Scollard zipped past Andrew Barker down the right wing and squared for Rob O'Shea who showed great composure to take a touch and pick his spot from the edge of the box.
Brian Murphy had quickly added a second for Seaford in the earlier clash and he almost repeated the trick, letting of a rasping drive from 25 yards that Aaron McCormack did well to parry over.
At the other end, Darren Fanning looked the most dangerous Swords attacker, forcing Oisin Geoghegan into his first save and seeing another effort rebound off the far post, while Darragh Roche made a brilliant saving tackle to deny Derek O'Flaherty just as he was about to pull the trigger with the goal at his mercy.
Seaford made a bright start to the second half , Darragh Connolly saw his free-kick smartly saved by McCormac, and Sam Browne was ruled offside as he converted the rebound, and shortly afterwards Connolly's whipped corner was headed home by substitute Oliver Wright
The hosts emptied their bench in search of a route back into the game and Geoghegan was forced into two sensational saves, first from Fanning and later from Shane Verdon. Seaford maintained a threat on the bench, with McCormadk diving bravely at Connolly's feet, and Scollard rattling the post with a header.
Fittingly, it was Scollard who had the final say, notching his seventh of the season against the same opposition when he collected Roche's throw-in, wriggled free of his marker and found the corner of the net with his left..
