Steve Kane
Position: D RC
A figurehead of the youth revolution of 2009, Steve was a key player in the second team for several years and has since established himself on the first team panel. Initially an out-and-out winger with a turn of pace and a willingness to take on fullbacks, Steve is also strong in the air and was the second team top goalscorer in his debut campaign with the club.
An exuberant personality off the field, Steve is renowned for his propensity to remove his jersey at ill-judged moments. Knowing he needed one more goal to win a lucrative season-long wager with the first team captain, he once celebrated his assist for someone else’s goal against Iveagh Celtic with a topless dance by the corner-flag that fooled nobody , whilst his most memorable contribution with the first team to date was to curl a precise free kick into the top corner to give Seaford an 82nd minute lead against the mighty Liffey Wanderers, who went on to win the 2015 FAI Junior Cup. Removing his shirt in exuberant celebration, Steve received a second yellow card and was sent off. Liffeys equalised within seconds of the restart and went on to prevail 4-3 after extra time.
Nowadays a dogged fullback, Steve is the unofficial representative of the youth element of the club on the committee, despite no longer being, in any sense, young.
Steve reached a personal landmark in February 2020 when he made his 200th club appearance for the Majors away at Portmarnock, before finally completing his journey from "lively" to "solid" with a series of composed performances at centre half as the Premiers enjoyed an impressive season under Paulie Morris in 2021/22..
