Match Report: St Kevin's 3-3 Seaford Rock United
LSL Saturday Major 1
Seaford grabbed a last-gasp equaliser to snatch a point but it's unlikely to be enough to revive their fading promotion hopes.
The visitors made a bright start and almost opened the scoring on seven minutes when MJ TIerney's free kick was tipped onto the epost by Gabriel Alilionu.
When the opening goal did arrive, it was a stunner. Conor Geoghegan did brilliantly to hold off his man while jugging the ball, and then flicked it behnid him for Jamie McCaul to run on to, and McCaull smashed home a first-time volley that gave Alilionu no chance.
Kevins levelled immediately through Liam Mulcahy, who fired home through a sea of limbs after Seaford had failed to clear their lines from a corner.
Seaford stopper Oisin Geoghegan was busy during the rest of the half, first tipping over a ferocious drive from Bobby O'Reilly before denying Mulcahy with a foot-save.
But the Penguins re-took the lead just thirty seconds after half time, as Dave Lewis bundled the ball over the line after Alilionu failed to deal with a Tierney cross.
Kevins, desperate for points in their survival battle, took control of the game and had the better of the chances. Keith Rooney bet the offside trap on 48 but side-footed wide, before Geoghegan made an improvised save to keep Dillon McCann's free kick out of the top corner.
It was all square on 57 when Sam McMahon's searching diagonal ball was prodded home by Rooney at the back post. Conor Geoghegan almost restored Sefaord's advantage, but saw his header parried on to the crossbar but it was Kevins who made the breakthrough with just eight minutes to play, as Sean Phillips fired home on the turn from near the penalty spot.
Not wit was Seaford's turn to pour forward, and it looked like their last chance had gone when Alilionu tipped over Lewis's effort after he was set by Dan Kennedy.
But in the eighth of minute of added time, Seaford finally managed to get their goal and level the game, as Chris Monk rose hightest to head Tierney's corner into the net.
The draw wasn't much use to either side , and Seaford must now win their remaining two games and hope for favourable results elsewhere.
