Match Report: Seaford Rock United 8-1 Beggsboro
LSL Saturday Major 1B
Seaford made light work of a ragged Beggsboro outfit to end their season on a high.
It was never much of a contest, with Seaford swarming all over the opposition from the first whistle and establishing a three-goal lead within 16 minutes.
Man of the match Darragh Connolly had already seen an effort parried wide by Eoghan Sweetman after he'd left three defenders fore dead before he whipped in a right-wing corner for Mike O'Neill to head home at the back post on eight minutes. and Garrett Connolly made it two immediately, dispossessing Mick Hill on the edge of the Beggsboro penalty area before slotting home.
Both Connolly brothers might had added to the scoring before Sam Browne made it three, finishing a loose ball with the left foot after O'Neill was tackled on the edge of the box, and David Higgins should have added more punishment, blazing over from eight yards with the goal at his mercy, and Garrett was millimeters from finishing a brilliant team move when he saw his effort bounce off the goalpost.
Beggsboro pulled one back with a fine effort from Adrien Konieczy, but Darragh Connolly made it 4-1 from Browne's curling past.
Seaford added four more in 13 minutes after the break with Owen Brayden heading in at the back post, before Darragh Connolly controlled a Matty Sheehan shot before slotting home. Substitute Colin Barrett forced a brilliant save from Sweetman before Fionn Lawlor picked out Garrett Connolly with a pinpoint pass from defence to enable him to complete his brace, and he then set out Browne to make it 8-1.
