Match Report: Seaford Rock United 3-4 Larkview Boys
LSL Saturday Premier 1
Seaford had a frustrating afternoon, coming off second best in a thriller at Rockfield Park against a physically imposing and technically impressive Larkview Boys side..
Without a single fit striker available for selection, there was an improvised look to the Seaford starting eleven, but it was a bright start for the men in maroon, with Darragh Connolly finding his stride in the early stages, first picking our David Higgins, who fired wide with his left, before laying in Paul Tansey, who was denied by keeper Ronan Deasy.
But it was Larkview who took the lead on 11 minutes, when Rory McPhillips tapped in aan inswinging corner from a yard out, and the visitors took control of the match, with Colin Jones going close to a second from Maitias MacDonncha's pass.
Seaford however drew level on the stroke of half-time. Another impressive burst from Connolly was ended illegally near the edge of the box, and for the second time in a week, Higgins found the net with a stunning free kick, as Deasy could only stand and admire it.
When Larkview's Jack O'Dwyer was dismissed in an ugly off-the-ball incident, Seaford were not only unable to force home the numerical advantage, but conceded twice in the next ten minutes. First Mark Murnaghan skilfully evaded his marker before seeing his cross drop inside the far post, before Carl Moloney pounted on a poor clearance and lobbed Robbie Moran with a deft volley.
Connolly pulled one back for Seaford after Higgins had dispossessed MacDonncha to set him up, but Moloney made it 2-4 with another very soft goal from the home side's perspective.
The Penguins pulled one back immediately, when substitute Stephen Kelly headed in a Connolly cross, and Kelly had a golden opportunity to equalise in injury time from a Gavin Walsh delivery, but steered his effort just past the post.
Seaford: Robbie Moran, Eoin Mahon (Stephen Kelly, 63), David Mackey (Fionn Lawlor, 63), Terry Dougan, Caoimhin Fahy, Oli Wright (Sam Browne, 73), Jim Nolan (Keith Newman, 73), Darragh Connolly, Conan Murphy (Gavin Walsh, 63), Paul Tansey, David Higgins
Larkview Boys: Ronan Deasy, Maitias MacDonncha, Fionnan Motherway, Rory McPhillips, Philip Cullen, Mathieu Alfonsi, Mark Murnaghan, Robin Jones, Colin Jones, Adam Moloney, Jack O'Dwyer
