LSL Saturday Premier 1
Seaford brought their hectic recent spell of matches to close with an exciting draw against mid-table rivals Transport.
The game followed a similar pattern to the two sides' previous encounter, with a strong and powerful Transport side having the better of the first half and opening up a lead, only for Seaford to bounce back strongly and mount a comeback.
Craig Fitzgerald was inches from giving the visitors the lead when his 20 yard effort crashed down off the underside the of the bar, but he didn't have to wait long to break down the deadlock, thumping home a penalty on 23 minutes. And Transport made it two through Robert Gannon, who converted via the post after running on to keeper Ian Lynch's long punt upfield.
Seaford pulled one back quickly when Matteo La Placa followed up to tap in after Jack Burke's effort had rebounded from the bar, and the Penguins were a different proposition after the half time break. Fionn Geoghegan clipped the woodwork after a slick counter-attack led by La Placa and Ryan Scollard, before La Placa got his second to equalise on 55 minutes, laid in one-on-one by Owen Brayden, making an instant impact off the bench.
Transport almost hit back instantly when Gannon rounded Barry Ensor, but Steve Kane saved the day with a goalline clearance. the visitors did reclaim the advantage on 66 minutes, Ian Bush tapping in after Ensor had saved the initial effort.
The Penguins secured a deserved point with ten to play courtesy of a stunning Brian Mullally free kick that gave Lynch no chance, even if both sides had good chances to nick all three points, Ryan Fitzgerald heading off-target from close range for Transport, before Scollard sped past Lynch but couldn't keep his finish between the posts.
