Match Report: Leixlip United 3-3 Seaford Rock United
LSL Saturday Major 1
Both sides score in injury time as Seaford were left heartbroken after a dramatic clash at Rockfield Park.
It was a nightmare start for the Penguins, who found themselves a goal down after just a minute of play when Adam Chemaou received a long clearance with his back to goal, rolled his man and found the back of the net.
Seaford almost levelled in the second minute, but Ryan Scollard fired just wide after being laid in by Al Kennedy, and the hosts' two fullbacks almost combined for a leveler on 10 minutes, but Darragh Roche saw his powerful header blocked after a fine cross from Paul Tansey.
It was the top goalscorer Scollard who did find the net on 20, rising above keeper Jamie Maddison and one of his defenders to divert the ball into the net, from Luke Hedderman's curling delivery.
Seaford were making the running now, with Scollard to the fore, firing just wide one side of the post from a Jimmy Hussey delivery, and just wide of the other after being teed by James Kearney,.
But the Penguins shot themselves in the foot on 38 minutes, as Chemaou was allowed to saunter past a number of navy shirted defenders before coolly beating Oisin Geoghegan to restore Leixlip's advantage.
The Seaford response was instant, as Scollard whipped a ball to the back post, where MJ Tierney showed composure to cut onto his right foot and convert via a deflection.
Seaford's dominance continued into the second half and it seemed only a matter of time before they pulled clear in the game. Adam O'Shea tested Maddison from range, with Scollard ready to pounce on the rebound, before Tansey saw his delivery flash across the face of goal, and Scollard was inches from converting one of his trademark goals from a Geoghegan ball over the top.
Leixlip struggled to create a chance of note, whereas at the other end Tierney almost netted a clever dink from Hussey's lay-in, and substitute Rob O'Shea fizzed a 25-yarder just wide.
Finally, the second minute of injury time, the breakthrough, as Jamie McCaul brilliantly converted TIerney's delivery with a volleyed prod into the corner.
But agonisingly, Seaford failed to see out the dying stages, as a half-cleared corner landed at the feet of Graham Kersey, whose low effort somehow evaded a mass of Seaford bodies and found the corner of the net.
The draw leaves Alan Burns's side in a troubling position at the foot of Major 1, with a LFA Cup game against ROC Celtic next weekend
