Match Report: Seaford Rock United 3-2 Pegasus St James's
LSL Saturday Premier 1
Seaford overcame difficult conditions and a promotion-chasing Pegasus side in order to secure three satisfying points at Rockfield Park.
Pegasus had won five of their first six matches - the best record in the division - coming into the match but it was the hosts who made the brighter start, taking the lead inside ten minutes through Sam Browne, making his Premiers debut, who converted from close range after the Pegs keeper had spilt a Mark Sullivan cross.
The visitors levelled later in the half before taking the lead on 47 minutes, when the Seaford defence went to sleep from a quick free kick,
But Ryan Scollard drew the sides level when he smashed home a penalty he had won himself, and the powerful striker completed the comback with his second of the afternoon. Rory O'Huiginn's initial effort was saved, and when Carl Doyle fluffed the rebound, Scollard was on hand to net his second of the match.
Seaford were indebted to veteran keeper Robbie Moran and an injury time goalline block from Luke O'Sullivan as they clung on for their third win of the season.
Seaford: Robbie Moran, Eoin Mahon, David Mackey (Luke O'Sullivan, 78), Adam Finnegan (Theo Cullinane, 70), Aaron Hartnett, Sam Browne, Rory O'Huiginn , Piers Shelton (James Thompson, 65), Mark Sullivan (Carl Doyle, 55) Alex Smirnoff, Ryan Scollard.
