Match Report: Seaford Rock United 3-2 Balbriggan
LSL Saturday Premier 1
Seaford showed guts and quality to come from behind to take the points against promotion-chasing Balbriggan.
It was a nightmare start for the Penguins, who fell behind after just sixty seconds when Jack Purdue cut inside his man before slotting past Barry Ensor. Seaford levelled through an outstanding curling effort from Brian Mullally, who claimed his first ever Seaford goal.
Balbriggan re-took the lead with a fluke effort from Ryan O'Gorman, whose shot seemed to be heating wide before taking a strange bounce ans squirming under Ensor into the corner of the net.
But Seaford were a different side after the break and took control of the game. They were agonisinly close to an equaliser on 53 when Ryan McEnroe's carefully placed shot bounced off the angle of post and bar, and the same man forced a good save out off Keith McConnell shortly after.
At the other end, substitute Dipo Sadiq rattled the woodwork after a goalmouth scramble the ball bouncing on the line but not over it, before McEnroe finally got on the scoresheet, beating the offside trap to run on to debutant Jack Burke's through-ball and finish.
It was all Seaford now. Fionn Lawlor clipped the post with a free kick before, with just two minutes remaining, Oliver Wright's winner sparked jubilant scenes. Wright started the move with a composed pass to makeshift winger Stephen Kelly, whose cross wasnt' dealt with by the keeper, enabling Wright to pounce and smash the ball home.
The win ends a run of three defeats for Eoin Dunne's men, who next welcome Transport to Rockfield Park.
