Match Report: Seaford Rock United 3-1 Manortown United
LSL Saturday Premier
Seaford’s Premiers maintained their strong start to the season with a comfortable win over Manortown United, boosted by a pair of second half goals from Ryan Scollard.
The hosts had a huge penalty shout waved away early on when Colin Barrett seemed be barged in the back as he raced onto Oisin Geoghegan’s clearance, but it wasn’t long before the Penguins were in front, as Scollard’s cross bounced into the net off defender Carl Murray.
Owen Brayden almost doubled the lead late in the half after Mate Salacan teed him up, but Rob Keogh manages to block his goal bound effort.
There was drama at both ends shortly after half time as Keogh’s attempted cross was inches from embarrassing Geoghegan, as the ball ricocheted off the inside of the far post, and then at the other end Seaford’s Rob O'Shea lifted the ball over Graham Bardsley, only for Murray to head off the line.
Scollard’s pace was causing Manortown all sorts of problems and it was he who bagged the second on 53 minutes, as his cross eluded Bardley and dropped into the net.
Brayden had another great chance to break his duck for the season when O’Shea set him up, but fired off target, but he had a hand on Seaford’s third, finding Scollard who whipped home a fine shot from 20 yards to seal the points.
The hosts continued to make most of the running, with substitute Niall Holleran, shooting wide after a quick counter-attack, and Manortown pulled one back with five to play, Mark Dowling bundling in from close range following a corner .
But that was as good as it got for the yellows as Seaford saw the game out to get back to winning ways and keep their spot at the top of the table
