Match Report: Seaford Rock United 2-0 Columbas Rovers

Seaford kept the pressure on promotion rivals with an efficient win over Columbas Rovers.
The visitors established territorial dominance on the first few minutes but without mustering much attacking threat, and Seaford got to the grips with the game , Paul Tansey going close with a hooked shot from range before Chris Monk’s bicycle kick flew just past the post.
Late in the half , Ian Nolan burst forward from centre back on a counter-attack to get free at the back post but his powerful header was off -target, and in stoppage time Mike O'Neill was inches from opening the scoring after being laid in by Monk.
The Penguins had already racked up eight corners by the 48th minute , when O’Neill’s close-range header was parried over by Andy Newbanks
Seaford finally made the breakthrough from yer another set-piece on 52, as Al Kennedy’s cross-shot eluded Newbanks and found the corner. After waiting a year for his first Seaford goal, it was only another ten minutes for his second , as he converted a sensational whipped cross from Tansey.
It was all Seaford now, with Monk having a goal disallowed for handball, but Rovers’ first shot on target In the 70th minute, a Sam Byrne Dee kick, was comfortably dealt with by David Higgins.
Columbas did manage to find the net with 15 to play, but it was disallowed for a clear foul on Higgins , and Seaford’s subs threatened to add to their advantage , with Garrett Connolly forcing another save from Newbanks, before Stephen Canavan missed a golden chance after being tees up by Robbie Creevy.
The win leaves the Penguins outside the promotion spots on goal difference, setting up an tense finale to the season with two games remaining
