Match Report: Seaford Rock United 1-2 Home Farm
LSL Saturday Major 1
Seaford suffered more stoppage-time heartbreak , conceding a 92nd minute winner against title-chasing Home Farm.
The hosts took the lead on four minutes when Ryan Scollard took advantage of a defensive lapse and showed great composure to slot in his 20th of the season .
And it could have been more for the Penguins in the opening quarter, as Jamie McCaul curled just wide before Scollard fired over the bar from a tight angle from an Adam O'Shea cross.
At the other end, Liam Burke scooped a clever pass through for Frankie Haba, but the burly striker handled the ball before bundling it into the net and it was disallowed. Oisin Geoghegan then produced a brilliant save rushing off his line to block from Burke.
Scollard headed off-target from a Darragh Connolly cross, and Home farm’s Kieran O’Byrne fired just wide , at the near post after being laid in by Kleinfield Newti
While the first half had been evenly matched, the visitors took more control after the break, although they were indebted to a brilliant save from Evan White before the arm mark, as he somehow clawed away McCaul’s close- range finish after Connolly’ knock-down.
It was all square on 71. Graham Keoghan saw his effort, rebound off the crossbar, and although Ben Parker failed to make a connection with the rebound, his scuffed effort bobbled into the corner of the net.
Farm were making most of the running now, with Callum Donnelly going close with a shot across goal., and Newti flinging a series of throw-ins deep into the Seaford goalmouth, where they were inevitably met by the head of Sam Browne
The Penguins thought that they held out, but stoppage time Liam McGrath’s powerful strike took a deflection and rattled the crossbar before dropping into the net to secure the three points.
