Match Report: Seaford Rock United 1-1 Tallaght Town
LSL Premier Superleague Group B
Seaford maintained their recent unbeaten run after a tightly fought home draw.
The Penguins made a bright start to the game, having much the better of the chances in the first half, with Colin Barrett heading just wide after Niall Holleran had nodded the ball back to him following a brilliant burst down the left from Jamie McCaul .
Holleran set up Barrett again minutes later, slotting through a perfectly weighted through-ball, but Barrett’s shot was blocked by the onrushing keeper Mark O’Leary.
Midway through the first half, this hosts were award led a penalty, when Gavin Walsh tumbled under a challenge from Darren Moore, and Ian Nolan stepped up to give Sesford a deserved lead.
If the Penguins had made most of the running in the first half, the second period was a different story with Tallaght asserting their physical advantage and turning the game in their favour. It was Moore who for the equaliser, heading home Regan McCabe’s corner, and they went close to a second shortly after when Gavin Nugent produced a stunning tip over the bar to deny Rob Shortt what would have been a spectacular goal.
There were few chances in the remainder of the game , although Nugent had to produce another smart save to keep out a Niall Forrester strike.
The draw makes it five points from three games for Seaford in the Super League, and still only one defeat since September.
