Match Report: Seaford Rock United 1-0 Dunboyne AFC
LSL Saturday Major 1B
Oli Wright netted on his home debut to continue Seaford's strong start to the season in Major 1B.
Seaford had the lion's share of possession during the first half but it was the visitors who had the clearest chances, most notably when Thomas Phelan was presented with a free header six yard from goal from Gavin Horan's free kick, only to direct his effort over the bar with the goal at his mercy.
At the other end, Andy Roe rattled the crossbar with a free-kick, before Christian Firth left two opponents for dead before stinging the keeper's palms from long range.
Seaford took control of the game early in the second half, as Roe twice went close with headers in the space of a couple of minutes, the second of which was just inches over the bar from a Chris Monk cross following a slick counter-attack.
The crucial moment arrived on 57 minutes when striker Firth took the ball on his chest and fed Wright, who burst through on goal and finished with his left
Dunboyne had plenty of possession in the final stages but struggled to create a clear-cut chance until the final minute when lively playmaker Matthew Curtis picked out a teammate in the inside left position, only for him to fire off target.
The win moved Seaford to the top of the table as they approach a run of cup ties during the rest of September.
