Match Report: Seaford FC 3-1 Old County
LSL Saturday Major 1C
Seaford maintained their strong start to the season with a solid performance in victory against Old County.
With six under-21s in the matchday squad, the Penguins have a brand new look this season but they have lost none of their steeliness and battled to secure the three points on a poor surface at Rockfield Park.
The first chance of the day fell to Espoire Lutete, who was put through by Ciaran Staunton but was unable to score for the second consecutive weekend, scuffing his shot.
Penguins skipper Mate Salacan broke the deadlock with a stunning free-kick that dipped just under the crossbar giving Nathan Little no chance.
And it was 2-0 shortly before half time, as top scorer Staunton leathered it into the top corner from the edge of the area after being teed up by Timi Silva.
Old County hadn't offered much before half time but it was a different story after the break as their substitutes gave them new impetus, and it was no surprise when one of them, Jordon Ojo, pulled one back after nicking the ball past stand-in keeper Craig Scollard and managed to win the race to the ball to finish it off on the goalline.
But Seaford weathered the the storm and recovered their foothold in the match. Silva made it 3-1 with a long-range free kick which Little spilled into the net , and late on substitute Matteo la Placa might have added another, running through onto Jamie Thompson's through-ball but clipping the outside of the post.
The result makes it nine points from five matches at the start of the Penguins' campaign.
