Match Report: Seaford FC 1-1 Blackrock College
LSL Major 1 Saturday
Seaford plundered a lucky draw after a below-par display in the Rockfield derby.
The Penguins were miles off the pace during the first half, and were lucky only to be a goal behind courtesy of Ben White’s penalty, with man-of-the-match Oisin Geoghegan making brilliant saves to deny first Rob Young and then Sean Corbett.
The closest the hosts came to a leveler was when Niall Holleran was inches from converting Ran Tao’s corner, but Seaford improved in the second half and almost equalized through Elridge Valois, but the Panamanian was denied by David O’Callaghan’s brilliant fingertip save.
And with just five minutes to play, substitute Michael Akingbade made the breakthrough, picking out the top corner from a Valois assist.
Both side had chances to win it late on, as Geoghegan blocked with his feet to keep out Peter Walsh before O’Callaghan did the same at the other end to prevent Akingbade from nicking a winner in injury time.
Seaford:, Oisin Geoghegan Zitian Xiang, Ran Tao (Marco Tsoinyane, 81) Al Kennedy, Dan Keegan, Eoin O'Farrell (Ben Kelly, 65), Peter Bardon (Michael Akingbade, 73), Rob O'Shea, Niall Holleran (Michael O'Neill, 81), Jamie McCaul, Elridge Valois
