Match Report: Seaford FC 1-0 Newbridge Town
LSL Saturday Major 1C
Seaford earned a well deserved win and clean sheet to make it a six-point Saturday at Rockfield Park.
The Penguins hit the front early through Niall Holleran and never looked in serious danger in sunny conditions in Blackrock.
They almost doubled their lead in spectacular fashion when Dan Keegan picked out Holleran with a brilliant diag, and Holleran's cross was met by Greg Hughes’s bicycle kick, but Dominick Sprinceana managed to deny the goal of the season.
From the resulting corner, Ben Kelly headed Mate Salacan’s delivery just wide, and Holleran also went close after being laid in by a brilliant pass by Hughes.
The visitors stirred shirt half time and Jared Gutherless did well to deny danger man Jack Foley Donohoe one-on-one before keeping out Aaron Donohoe’s header.
But it was Seaford who largely controlled the game , as Hughes and Keegan both went agonizingly close to adding a second .
Aaron Clarke made a stunning saving tackle to keep out Aaron Clancy but that was as close as the Kildaremen came to, as Seaford held on for the victory.
