Seaford Rock United 7-2 Glasnevin FC
LSL Sat Div 3
Seaford's second team cruised to victory in an action-packed fixture in the September sunshine.
It had been a difficult start to the campaign for the seconds, who were narrowly beaten by a strong Enniskerry YC side in the opening match before turning in a horrific display away at Dunboyne AFC, falling to a 6-0 defeat.
With a much stronger lineup available, the outcome was never in doubt. Marc Smith, usually a defender but redeployed in central midfield, opened the scoring with a tap-in after Mark Cullen's run and low cross. Smith headed in his second late from close range late in the first half before completing the most unlikely of hat-tricks shortly after the break with a perfectly placed low strike from 20 yards.
That sparked an extraordinary flurry of goals, as defensive errors enabled Glasnevin to pull goals back either side of Collie Barrett slotting home Seaford's fourth from Cullen's precise through ball, before Barrett was tripped in the penalty area, and skipper Tommy Crichlow slotted in the resultant spot kick.
Crichlow doubled his tally for the day with a superb curling free kick, before Matt Tappin's bullet header from Coly McCarron's corner completed the scoring.
Seaford: D O'Reilly; M Tappin, R Murray, S Harding, D Grealish; M Smith, T Crichlow, R O'Huiginn (M Kane, 81), C Barrett, M Cullen (C McCarron 63); T Bennett. Goals:M Smith (20, 41, 47), C Barrett (55), T Crichlow (58 pen, 75), M Tappin (89)
