Seaford Rock United 6-2 Malahide United
LSL Saturday Div 3
Seaford's seconds produced a blistering second half performance to rout Malahide United, netting some stunning goals along the way, as Collie Dolan signed off on his Seaford career with an electrifying performance and a hat-trick.
The home side's first half display was abject. Malahide took the lead inside ten minutes courtesy of a brilliant 25 yard volley from Daniel O'Connell. In truth the visitors ought to have run up a comfortable lead before the break, but Eoin English brilliantly denied stiker Conor Mullarkey (albeit that he was clearly offside) and several other presentable chances, as the men in red dominated. Seaford rarely threatened, although James O'Neill prodded home a Tommy Crichlow free-kick, only to be ruled offside.
But if Seaford had been limp and lightweight before half time, the second half performance was mesmerising. Darren Grealish's halftime substitutions had the desired effect, as the men in white rattled in four goals in the space of eight minutes as the dynamic attacker ran riot.
The equaliser arrived when Crichlow's powerful free kick rattled the crossbar, and Dolan reacted quickest the force home the rebound. Just seconds after the restart, Crichlow picked out substitute Coly McCarron, who spun brilliantly and hammered home a 20 yard strike with his left foot. McCarron got his second just two minutes later, nicking the ball away from the Malahide keeper before forcing the ball into the net from an acute angle, and then skipper Crichlow curled home a free kick to make it 4-1 on the hour mark after James O'Neill had been hacked down.
And Seaford weren't finished there. On 72 minutes, Crichlow recorded yet another assist, picking a clever disguised pass to Dolan, who burst into the box and unleashed a rocket of a shot into the top corner of the net. Although the visitors pulled one back courtesy of Mullarkey, it was the home side who completed the scoring, when O'Neill threaded a through-ball for Dolan to slot home and complete his hat-trick.
It was a fitting send-off for the departing Dolan, who received his first team player of the year award after the match, and a memorable team display for the seconds, who complete their campaign at home to Mount Merrion Youths on Saturday.
