Match Report: Seaford Rock United 6-2 Earl Celtic
LSL Saturday Division 3

Seaford ran riot against a ragged Earl Celtic outfit to end a four-match winless run in style.
Switching to a 4-4-2 formation proved to be an inspired decision by manager Tony Bennett, as his strikers and wingers ripped the visitors to shreds with a ruthless display.
It was 2-0 to Seaford after less than three minutes’ play. First, Ryan Scollard punished an error by centre back Mark Meehan to finish from close range, before he set up striker partner Peter Tierney with a brilliant through-ball, and the Kilkenny man rounded keeper Conor Reilly to double the advantage.
Earl went close to pulling one back when Craig Donohoe’s header clipped the top of the bar, before Scollard made got his second with a superb diving header from MJ Tierney’s pinpoint cross, and only a fine save from Reilly denied Scollard a first-half hat-trick after debutant keeper Simon McGnty’s punt upfield ran straight through for him.
Earl enjoyed their best spell of the match around he mid point of the half, and McGinty could do nothing to stop them making it 3-1 moments later, when from Joey Farrell’s free-kick, Craig Donahue nodded down for Robert Donohoe to convert from close range, before the Seaford keeper made a brilliant stop to keep out Sean Doyle’s volley.
But the home side reasserted their superiority late in the half, with Peter Tierney hitting the bar with a rasping drive following superb work from Mark Sullivan to rob Meehan, and the men in white added two more in quick succession shortly after half time to put the outcome beyond doubt.
First, the two Tierneys combined in stylish fashion, as MJ picked out Peter with another curling cross, the powerful striker guiding a cushioned header into the far corner, before the goalscorer skinned Farrell down the left wing, squaring for Robbie Murray , who claimed his first ever Seaford goal after Reilly spilled his shot over the goal-line.
Earl reduced the deficit immediately when Robert Donohoe grabbed his second of the day with a powerful low free kick, but Seaford made it 6-2 just before the hour mark with possibly the best goal of the lot, after sub Paidi O'Fatharta dispossessed Kian Knowles and crossing for MJ Tierney, who picked out the top corner with a ferocious left-footed drive.
The Laois man might have added to his personal tally , seeing one vicious drive go just over, and another strike pushed onto the post by Reilly, but Seaford were unable to increase their advantage, holding on comfortably to record a first home win of the season.
