Match Report: Seaford 4-2 St Kevin's
LSL Major 1
Seaford made hard work of it but eventually prevailed in a nervy clash between the bottom two at Rockfield Park.
Ryan Scollard almost opened the scoring with a wondergoal but his ferocious strike but tipped over by Gabriel Alilionu, before the Kevins stopper sprang off his line to deny Greg Hughes.
The visitors’ skipper Eoin Duffy almost put through his own net from a Scollard cross , before at the other end Darragh Roche made a goal-saving block to deny Sean Fleming,.
The Penguins deservedly broke the deadlock shortly after half-time courtesy of captain Al Kennedy, who drilled home at the back post after Alilionu had got half a fist to Timi Silva’s wicked delivery.
But Kevin’s turned the game on its head in the space of ten minutes to take an unlikely lead . First Sean Gallagher set up Fleming for a low finish before roles were reversed as Gallagher nodded home Fleming'’s corner.
The Seaford response was immediate, as Kennedy’s bravery earned them a penalty, when Alilionu cleaned him out in an aerial contest, and Jack Keegan made no mistake from 12 yards.
Seaford were well on top now and the tangerines suffered a blow with eight minutes to play when Duffy got his marching orders for a second yellow.
And the comeback was complete on 87 when Silva ran on to Scollard’s flick on and nervelessly sat Alilionu down before slotting home.
Substitute Michael Akingbade had an eventful period of stoppage time, somehow failing to score from five yards out under no pressure, before redeeming himself with the final kick of the game , producing a smashing finish to make it 4-2
Consecutive Rockfield wins gives some hope of survival to Burnsie’s boys , who now get a break from league action with the quarter final of the Lanigan Cup.
