Match Report: Seaford 4-1 Templeogue United
LSL Saturday Major 1

Seaford restored some hope in their relegation battle with a comprehensive win over Templeogue.
It was a frenetic opening at Rockfield Park and only a brilliant block by Brian Murphy prevented the visitors from making an instant breakthrough, after Robert Orr had squared for Ben Costello, while at the other end Jamie Austin managed to grab the ball at the second attempt to deny Rob O'Shea and Ryan Scollard was inches from a spectacular opener after O’Shea laid him in.
Instead it was skipper Al Kennedy who made it 1-0 on 8 minutes, nodding home O’Shea’s a splendid whipped delivery.
The Penguins took complete control of the game from that point. Darragh Roche’s slingshot throw-ins spooked the visitors no end, with Austin making a sharp save to percent an own-goal by Daniel Stewart, before an even better one to deny Timi Silva’s towering header.
Seaford continued to dominate and the pressure told when Stewart handled O’Shea’s corner , allowing Jack Keegan to slot home the penalty, and then late in the half O’Shea produced a neat finish off the far post for the third.
Keegan had an effort disallowed for offside early in the second half before the other man-of-the-match candidate Peter Bardon volleyed home Murphy’s corner for 4-0.
O’Shea went agonisingly close to a fifth from a fine Bardon lay-in before Templeogue’s Luke Mullins pulled one back with a lovely 25-yard strike.
The red rallied briefly but the Penguin threat persisted, with Zitian Xiang setting up fellow sub Niall Holleran to bag, only for it to be chalked off for a handball.
A run of five wins from six gives Seaford grounds for confident going into next weekend’s cup semi-final but there remains a huge job of work to ensure the Penguins’ survival in Major 1.
