Seaford's miserable season continued to plumb new depths as they were ripped apart by one-time promotion rivals Booth Road Celtic.at Rockfield Park, suffering their heaviest defeat in at least a decade..
Physically enormous, brilliantly committed and utterly ruthless in front of goal, the visitors raced into a two goal lead, First, winger Ryan Nicholson exploited space down the left flank to square for Shane Merrigan, who produced a neat finish, before Nicholson slotted the second home himself.
Seaford had been well in the match and bounced back with a quickfire double of their own. James O'Neill hooked in his second in consecutive matches, before from O'Neill's cross, Rory O'Huiginn flicked Paul Lydon's header into the net, after Booth Road keeper Robert O'Rourke had lost his footing at the crucial moment.
But there was goalkeeping calamity at the other end minutes later, as the unfortunate Dylan O'Reilly misjudged a bouncing clearance, letting Philip Sheppard in to make it 3-2. Nicholson set up Merrigan again just before half time for Booth Road's fourth, and Merrigan completed his hat-trick just moments after half time to put the game beyond doubt.
He wasn't finished, flicking James Kelly's free kick into the net to make it 6-2 before Sheppard got his second of the evening. Adam Finnegan broke his Seaford duck with a well taken volley into the top corner on 74 minutes, but Seaford's main tormentors, Nicholson and Merrigan, added two more stunning volleys in the space of thirty seconds late on.
Seaford don't have long to wait for the the chance to elicit revenge, with the teams meeting again in the reverse fixture in Clondalkin some 41 hours after the referee finally put the navy blues out of their misery.
