Match Report: Seaford Rock United 3-3 DCU
LSL Saturday Division 3
Seaford trailed by two, then led by one, but had to settle for a point in their final match of the season.
The home side started brightly, with Ryan Scollard, and Peter Tierney both testing Eoin Farrell witih powerful strikes of range, and Matt Tappin having a header disallowed for offside all within the first quarter of an hour, but it was DCU who took the lead through Jimmy Kieran, who smashed into the roof of the net from close range after Colm Fitzpatrick's chip into the Seaford box caused defensive panic.
Scollard saw his goalbound effor cleared off the line by Sean Brady and David Devaney was inches from levelling on the counter-attack before the visitors dobled their lead with a break-away of their own. They swept downfield having cleared a corner, and Liam Atkinson produced a pinpoint cross for Trevor Gethins to convert at the back post.
But Tony Bennett's men shot out of the blocks for the second half and pulled one back instantly, as a brilliant backpost header from Shane Lauritsch set up Tierney to fire home from 12 yards, and Stephen Kelly spun in the box and produced a composed finish to make it 2-2 on the hour mark.
The turnaround was completed in spectacular style when fullback Paul Tansey cracked in an unstoppable first-time shot from the corner of the box on 71 minutes, but DCU hit back almost immediately, when a vicious Kieran cross was cruelly deflected into his own net by Darren Grealish.
The closest either side game to a winner was when Lauritsch's cross was flicked inches wide by Scollard, but the share of the spoils makes little difference to either side's campaign, with DCU already relegated and Seaford secure in a top-half finish after a strong end to the season.
