Match Report: Seaford FC 3-2 Tallaght United
LSL Saturday Major 1
Seaford ended their season on a high with a late win against an excellent Tallaght United side.
With the visitors already promoted and the Penguins safe from relegation, there was nothing but pride on the line and it lent itself to an open and exciting match.
Tallaght went close first when Aaron Brady knocked the ball past Oisin Geoghegan but was unable to convert from a tight angle. Instead, it was Seaford who hit the front through Niall Holleran, who converted with his left at the back post after brilliant work from Michael Akingbade to bulldoze his way though the visitors' defence and square the ball for him.
Akingbade almost doubled the lead with a a side-foot volley from Timi Silva's brilliant cross but he was unable to keep it down, and Holleran also saw a lpng=range effort deflect just wide.
United levelled on 37 when Mate Salacan was penalised for tripping Gerard Mooney and Aaron Brady smashed home the resulting penalty, but Seaford finished the half strong with Akingbade agonisingly close to heading home Salacan's whipped corner.
Both sides bagged again shortly after half time, with Holleran nodding in his second from a sensational Jack Keegan assist, before the visitors controversially levelled directly from Brady's corner while Geoghegan seemed to be impeded.
From that point, Tallaght had most of the ball but the navy blues defended doggedly and with two minutes to play they grabbed a winner. Sam Browne was fouled by Andy Mendes on the edge of the box and up stepped Keegan to thump the free kick into the back of the net, making it 14 for the season and a winning finale for Burnsie's boys.
