Match Report: Seaford Rock United 3-0 St John Bosco
LSL Sat Major 1
Seaford made it three wins on the bounce with a deserved victory over John Bosco .
It wasn't a vintage performance from Alan Burns's men, but nor were the Penguins ever under signifcant pressure during a match played on a bobbly surface at Rockfield Park.
It was the visitors who had the first chance of the game, as Dean Blood sought to take advantage of a miscommunication in the Seaford defence, and managed to reach the ball ahead of keeper Oisin Geoghegan, but missed the target with the goal at his mercy.
He was punished instantly at the other end, as Seaford hit the front through Jack Burke, who fired home first time after Sam Browne had flicked on Darragh Roche's long throw.
Burke might have added a second late in the half when he ran on to Geoghegan's punt upfield, but he was unable to beat David Kiernan from a tight angle.
But the Penguins flew out of the traps after half time and doubled their lead on 48 minutes. Kiernan produced a fine tip onto the crossbar to deny Jim Nolan 's header, but from the rebound, Chris Monk's shot was handled by a defender, and Al Kennedy buried the resultant penalty.
Bosco's best chance of the half fell to Alex Taafe, but Geoghegan produced a fine save to deny him one-on-one. At the other end, Stephen Canavan led the line brilliantly but couldn't find the finishing touch, while Monk headed Paul Tansey's dangerous corner over the bar .
Seaford added some polish to the scoreline with a slick third in the final minute of normal time, as several substitutes combined. Man-of-the-match Roche wrapped a pass into Dan O'Leary, who in turn fed Ryan Scollard and his curling cross was met by a bullet header from Lewis Cawley to seal the 3-0 win.
