Match Report: Seaford FC 0-2 SVS
LSL Major 1C
Seaford battled hard against the champions-elect but were sunk by two late goals in a rowdy affair at Rockfield Park.
The Penguins keeper Jared Gutherless saved 9’s first-half penalty which prompted Seaford’s best spell of the match, as skipper Mate Salacan tested 1 with a free kick, before Owen Petticrew forced a fine save with a spinning volley and Niall Holleran also went close at the near post from Zitian Xiang’s long throw.
Scoreless at the break, and Gutherless kept it that way early in the second half, first saving low from 7 before tipping Zack Quinlivan’s powerful drive over the par.
The visitors were doing most of the attacking now and Seaford’s task seemed enemies when Petticrew picked up a second yellow and got his marching orders.
They held out until the 79th minute, when Ross Whyte got his head to a loose ball and the referee adjudged that the ball had crossed the line before Craig Conlon’s despairing clearance.
David Baker smashed in a stunning second two minutes later to seal the win for SVS.
