Match Report: Seaford Rock United 0-1 Home Farm
LSL Saturday Major 1
Seaford’s season in Major 1 ended on a disappointing note as they fell to b defeat against a slick Home Farm side in Rockfield Park.
The visitors dominated the first half in terms of possession and territory, but created few meaningful chances, and took only one of them, as Aaron O’Dwyer fired home a rebound after Oisin Geoghegan had parried John Hyland’s effort, as the Penguins appealed for offside. Hyland also had a good chance of his own but was unable to convert a brilliant cross from Bradley Hand.
At the other end, Seaford had the ball in the net from a Fionn Geoghegan free kick but the whistle had blown for offside.
If Farm had much the better of the opening period, it was a different story after half time as the hosts gained a foothold in the game and started to apply some pressure . Conor Geoghegan chipped a cross to the back post where two teammates were waiting to apply the finish, but Dan Kennedy couldn’t generate any purchase with his header, and later Ian Nolan had a golden opportunity to level but blasted the ball just over from ten yards after the ball broke to him following a corner.
Disaster stuck for Seaford when keeper Oisin Geoghegan was forced off the field with injury after all substitutions had been made. He still managed to hobble across his goal line to keep out Robert Colman’s effort Aaron Brady’s effort had smashed the crossbar, but couldn’t take any further part , and his younger brother Fionn donned the gloves for the closing stages.
The ten men continued in search of an equaliser , with Chris Monk seeing his header from a Mate Salacan header deflected inches wide , before a James Cussen delivery was hacked off the line, amid a goal-line scramble and appeals for a penalty. But Home Farm held on to claim the three points they deserved in the balance of play.
