Match Report: Sacred Heart 0-2 Seaford Rock United
LSL Saturday Major 1
A composed and professional performance - and two more goals for the unstoppable Ryan Scollard - saw Seaford over the line in their latest relegation six-pointer at Killinarden Hill
Having scraped a narrow victory over Bluebell United a week earlier, it was another must-win clash for Alan Burns’s men, and they hit the front early on when Scollard was laid in by Rob O'Shea and the pacey striker converted with ease
But Heart had the better of the chances during the first half, most notably via their striker Dylan Boxwell who collected a pass from Martin Donegan and showed great skill to evade a defender before aiming just too high with their first opening.
Then Boxwell failed to properly connect with his header from Noel Mazuna’s delivery, before 10 Gabrial Okakhun laid him in to force a fine stop from Oisin Geoghegan, who also did well to keep out Rufus Ngegwe’s header .
At the other end, Dan Kennedy had a golden opportunity to double Seaford's advantage, but fired straight at Darragh Dixon, before Scollard outmuscled Sean Hyland but was unable to convert.
It was a more controlled display from the Penguins after the break, looking much more solid defensively, and Scollard made it two on 57 minutes, running onto a Darragh Connolly throughball to bag his 28th of the season.
The reds were chasing the game now and they that afforded the Penguins gave acres of space to attack. Skipper Al Kennedy burst forward and almost created another for Scollard, before a sumptuous pass l from Jimmy Hussey released Connolly, who was denied by Dixon. Then Ben Kelly laid in Scollard yet again, but Dixon managed to claw his effort away from the top corner.
At the other end , Mazuna had the hosts’ best chance after being laid in by dangerous schemer Donegan, who later saw a vicious blast at goal comfortably dealt with by the commanding Geoghegan , as the Penguins saw the game out to collect the three points
