Match Report: Portmarnock AFC 4-0 Seaford Rock United
LSL Saturday Major 1
Seaford were handed a sound thrashing by the seaside on their return to competitive action in 2024.
The Penguins went close to opening the scoring in 11 minutes when Darragh Connolly’s clipped cross was tipped onto the bar by Lee Morris, but that was as close as the visitors came all afternoon as Portmarnock eased to victory.
Cian McGregor opened the scoring on 17, planting a fine header past Oisin Geoghegan after some excellent wing play from Harry Collier.
Only a saving tackle from Darragh Roche prevented Morris making it two, but it seemed only a matter of time before the hosts added to their advantage , which they did through Anthony Hutton, who tapped in after Geoghegan had done well to keep out another McGregor header.
It only got worse for Seaford after the break, as a sloppy attempt to play out from the back was punished by Alex Boylan for 3-0, and an unfortunate break of the ball out Portmanrock’s striker clean through for a fourth with barely an hour played.
That concluded the scoring on what was another miserable afternoon for Alan Burns’s men, leaving them with a record of four defeats from their opening six league matches.
