Oisin Geoghegan
Position: GK
Having made a handful of appearances in previous seasons, it was during the 2016/17 season that Oisin established himself at the club.
An imposing keeper with brilliant reflexes and more than comfortable with the ball at his feet, he made three penalty saves in the space of the week in October 2016, earning wins for both teams. He kept out one spot kick for the seconds against Frankfort in the Leinster Junior Shield and followed it up with two brilliant saves in the firsts’ league win over Hartstown Huntstown the following Saturday.
He maintained his remarkable record from spot-kicks til the end of the season, keeping out four of six penalties he faced in total after establishing himself as the club's first-choice keeper.
After missing a season while living abroad, Oisin was back to top form in the 2018/19 campaign, reclaiming the number 1 jersey and promptly winning the Player of the Year trophy -- before emigrating again.
Happily he returned in time for COVID-delayed 2021/22 season, playing the better than ever as the Majors enjoyed a successful campaign in Sat Major 1.
Oisin broke a club record in 2023/24 by playing a remarkable 38 times across both teams, with his best display coming in the crucial late-season clash with Glenville when his astonishing array of saves helped the Penguins to the point they needed to ensure survival.
