The seconds recorded their third straight win - all away from home - yesterday evening with a 2-0 victory at Knockmitten United, following on from a 2-1 over Cloghertown United just two days earlier. Striker Peter TIerney netted in both games, reaching double-figures for the season, while Collie Barrett made a big impact, netting against the Meath men on Saturday before winning the penalty which Tierney converted in Clondalkin. Credit is also due to some rock-solid defending, with centre backs Adam Finnegan and Stephen Kelly to the fore in each of the recent wins, along with Amer Herenda, redeployed in a holding midfield role.
However, the firsts' own winning streak came to an abrupt halt as they crashed out of the Carroll Cup at the hands of St Kevin's Boys on Saturday. The absence of a recognised goalkeeper was sorely evident at times, as the hosts netted a couple of early goals, although Donal Howley pulled one back for Seaford. There was no doubt that Kevin's were worthy winners of the day, even if the 5-1 scoreline was slightly flattering.
