An encouraging performance saw Seaford ease to a 4-1 win against top-flight Wayside Celtic in the penultimate preparation game for Alan Burns's men.
The Penguins put in a stellar first-half display to establish a three-goal advantage, and even after introducing a host of half-time substitutes, playing out the match with a 16 year old and two 17-year-olds on the field, Seaford always looked comfortable against their more illustrious opposition. Garrett Connolly, returning to the club after a four-year absence, broke the deadlock on 8 minutes, forcing the ball home at the third attempt after receiving Craig Conlon's delivery.. The same man made it 2-0 following a slick one-two between Michael Akingbade and Rob O'Shea, and O'Shea added a third following a sublime backheel assist from Akingbade. Wayside quickly pulled one back but the diminutive Kerryman O'Shea instantly bagged his second, crashing a splendid volley into the top corner. Akingbade's excellent display deserved a goal and he was unlucky not to make it 5-1 from a tight angle. The second half saw the Penguins take their foot off the gas and they were indebted to their young keeper FIonn McLoughlin who made a couple of top saves to maintain the lead.
