Mixed fortunes for the club this weekend as the Majors' run in the FAI Junior Cup was halted in emphatic style by Booth Road Celtic, but the Premier side picked up a dogged win away at Lorcan Celtic.
The Major side were comprehensively beaten by an exceptional Booth Road outfit in their third round tie in Clondalkin. Alan Burns's men found themselves 4-0 down by half time, but fared batter after the break, with Andy Roe netting a late consolation goal. Full match report here. But there was better news from Santry as Eoin Dunne's side secured a vital three points away at Lorcan Celtic. Without a regular goalkeeper available, custodial responsibilities fell to Mark Sullivan, who is more used to putting balls in the net rather than keeping them out. He put in a fine display, however, behind a defence well marshalled by Adam Finnegan and Ian Nolan, while at the other end, goals from the prolific Conan Murphy and a first ever Seaford goal for Shane McNamara secured the three points. The Majors made the long trip to face Wicklow Rovers on Friday evening and progressed to Round 3 of the FAI Junior Cup with a 2-0 win. Sam Browne maintained his strong early-season form in front of goal by opening the scoring late in the first half before an Ian Nolan penalty sealed the tie for Seaford. Click here for the match report. On Saturday, the Premiers picked up their first three points of the season with a fine display to beat Rivervalley Rangers 3-1. Early goals from Mark Sullivan and Collie Barrett put Seaford in control of the match and although the visitors pulled one back early in the second half, Pawel Politowski secured the win with a spectacular third.
