Match Report: Mid Sutton Sportslink 3-5 Seaford FC (aet)
LFA Junior Cup
Seaford narrowly avoided calamity as Jack Keegan inspired them to a dramatic win in the LFA Junior Cup.
It looked as though it would be plain sailing for the Penguins who were three goals up after 15 minutes , courtesy of a Rob O'Shea brace either side of Darragh Roche’s smart finish.
And they even squandered a golden chance to make it 4-0, when Timi Silva scuffed a penalty wide,
Mid Sutton had shown a threat prior to that, with 9 having a goal ruled out for offside, and they also caused a farcical goalmouth scramble on 34 minutes , with Oisin Geoghegan saving three times in five seconds and relying on his crossbar as the hosts peppered the goal without joy.
Seaford’s feckless display was punished in the second half as Mid Sutton bagged three goals in ten minutes to level the score.
Stephen McDonnell slotted home under Geoghegan before Lorcan Quinn headed in a corner and then Adam Murohy converted Sean Beaddie’s cross to make it 3-3.
Seaford rallied, with Silva forcing a smart save from Conor Carroll before seeing another effort go inches past the post, but couldn’t make the breakthrough during regulation time.
Finally they restored their advantage early in extra time as Keegan made yet another hurst down the left, the ball eventually bouncing in off Mid Sutton defender Sean O’Neill.
And the Penguins’ passage was secured in the second period of extra time when Keegan recorded his fourth assist of the match to pick out Michael Akingbade who gathered the ball and smashed the fifth past Carrroll.
