Match Report: Manortown 0-3 Seaford Rock United
LSL Saturday Major 1C
A hattrick from Jamie McCaul saw Seaford to a fourth straight win at the start of their major 1C campaign
In blistering heat in Perrystown, the first half was a pedestrian affair with few clear-cut chances at either end.
Oisin Geoghegan produced routine saves to deny Eamon Molloy and DJ Ennis early on, while Seaford’s first chance fell to Shane Halpin , who was laden by McCaul but saw his shot blocked by1
Manortown’s Dan Conroy was guilty of a glaring mess on 15 minutes, making a mess of his finish after beating the offside trap and finding them self in acres of space just 10 yards from goal.
Seaford had a golden chance of their own on 39 following brilliant wingplay from Eoin Kenny, who completed a mazy dribble before chipping to the back stick, where Shane Gilroy arrived to meet the ball three yards out , but he couldn’t quite over the header and nodded it just over the bar
But the Penguins hit the front moments later through McCaul, who tapped in after Ben Kelly had seen his effort blocked on the goalline.
Having bagged from 40 centimeters, McCaul showed his prowess from 40 yards after half time, as he crashed a dipping volley into the back of the net - a truly stunning strike.
And he complete his hat-trick two minutes later, following a driving midfield run from Kelly. McCaul received the ball skillfully before firing across Ian Dunphy into the corner.
That quickfire brace largely ended the game as a contest, particularly given the stifling conditions, but Geoghegan had to make a brilliant stop to ensure his clean sheet , after Josh Ennis met DJ Ennis's corner with a point-blank header
12 points from four matches represents a brilliant start to the campaign for the Penguins, as they lead the way in 1C
