Match Report: Manortown United 0-0 Seaford Rock United
LSL Saturday Premier
Seaford were held to a goalless draw away to Manorstown United after a dominant second half display could not yield the winner.
The first 30 minutes saw a see-saw battle, with each team having their chances. The visitors forced and early flurry of corners lead to aron Clarke strike being blocked into the side-netting.
Manorstown nearly took the lead when Carl Murray’s deep free-kick was headed across goal but Rob Keogh’s effort somehow ended up over the bar from close range.
Seaford regained the initiative toward the internal, with Killian Campion’s low effort just evading Mate Salacan at the back past. Goalless at the break.
The visitors were comfortably on top after half time, and ought to have hit the front when a Salacan free-kick fell to Stephen Kelly, but he was unable to hit the target Eoin Kenny made a big difference off the bench in the target man role, shooting wide with his left from a Clarke cross, before being released by Campion and lifting over the keeper, only for a recovering defender to head it off the line.
The hosts were clinging on towards the end, with another substitute Dez Eiffe having a good chance to strike from the edge of the box, but couldn't find the net. But the best chance fell to Kenny deep into injury time after Eoin McArdle and Conor Fennell hassled a mistake from the hosts' keeper, giving the big frontman a golden opportunity, but his finish was wayward and the final whistle confirmed the stalemate moments later.
Seaford: Eoin McArdle Brian Murphy, Steve Kane (Ian Nolan, 71) ,, Stephen Kelly, Gavin Walsh, Killian Campion Mate Salacan (Dez Eiffe, 71) Aaron Clarke (David Mackey, 67) (Eoin Dunne 75) Conor Fennell, David O'Callaghan (Eoin Kenny, 56)
