Match Report: Malahide United 2-1 Seaford FC
LSL Major 1 Saturday
Seaford equalised in the 96th minute but then conceded in the 97th as their challenging campaign took another heartbreaking twist.
Not for the first time this season, the Penguins came up against an inspired goalkeeping display from Malahide’s Darragh Brady , who made a couple breathtaking saves before the late drama.
Seaford were on top territorially in the early stages, with Jack Keegan twice denied by narrow offside decisions, but Malahide came into the match as the half went on and John Maxwell forced a fine save from Jared Gutherless with a side-foot volley.
Gutherless made an even better save to keep out Thomas Lynch's close-range header, with Maxwell clipping the bar from the resulting corner..
Early in the second half Brady had his first moment of brilliance, flying to his right to keep out Keegan's low strike after a clever lay-in by Thomas Murphy.
Just before the hour mark, Malahide hit the front, as Ciaran Cross curled in a back-post delivery for Jack Combey to nod home.
The visitors almost hit back immediately, but once again Brady somehow managed to claw Jamie McCaul's deflected effort away from the corner of his goal.
Malahide had a golden chance to double their advantage when Sam McAllister picked out Maxwell with the goal a his mercy, but he blazed over the bar, and instead Seaford begam to pour forward in search of an equaliser.
Deep in injury time, substitute Sam Belghazi saw his strike deflect inches past the far post, and from the corner kick Niall Holleran met Al Kennedy's cross with a bullet header to level the scores.
But there was still time for Maxwell to first home low with his right to secure vital points for the hosts and condemn Seaford to a fourth straight loss.
