Malahide United 0-1 Seaford Rock United
LSL Sat Div 3
Seaford's seconds bounced back after a difficult week with a typically resolute display to plunder a 1-0 win at Gannon Park.
Imposing centre forward Paidi O'Fatharta capped a dominant performance with his first ever Seaford goal. The front man bullied the Malahide back four throughout, and took his chance by firing low into the net after Mark Cullen had laid Randal Boyle's throughball into his path.
O'Fatharta almost doubled his tally late in the half with a spectacular overhead kick, and both he and Cullen spurned chances early in the second period.
The second half was largely an exercise in containment for the visitors, with midfielders Barry Kirwan and Marc Smith giving centre backs Stephen Harding and Darren Grealish good protection, and Eoin English sweeping up effectively to the rear.
Seaford introduced Daz Connolly and Donal Howley on the wings, who each gave their markers a torrid time, but the whites were unable to add to their advantange, with a resilient defensive performance enough to secure the three points,
Seaford: Eoin English; Mikey Kane, Randal Boyle, Darren Grealish, Stephen Harding; Barry Kirwan, Tommy Crichlow (Ross O'Riordan, 45), Marc Smith, Tony Bennett (Darragh Connolly, 61), Mark Cullen (Donal Howley, 61), Paidi O;Fatharta
