Match Report: Larkview Boys 3-3 Seaford Rock United
LSL Saturday Premier 1
Seaford Rock United’s Premiers dug out a hard fought 3-3 draw away to rivals Larkview FC in a topsy-turvy encounter on Monday evening under the lights.
A frantic opening quarter saw both sides going hell for leather, with Barry Ensor saving well with his feet from an early Larkview chance. Peter McGee went close with a few efforts from outside the box, forcing the home keeper in a low save to his left with one shot.
The home side took the lead after 25 minutes, when a quick switch of play found their left winger, who cut inside to curl a fine effort in off the far post. Seaford responded immediately when Killian Campion’s burst and cross down the right was met by Colin Barrett’s half volley, which smashed off the crossbar. Larkview responded by hitting the post from a quick throw-in. Just on half-time, Richie Mulholland found a bit of space and played an inch-perfect pass to the onrushing Campion, who coolly stroked home with his left foot into the top corner. 1-1 at the break.
The second half started more calmly, with the visitors dictating the play and wearing down the opposition. Larkview scored from a set-piece to retake the lead after 67 minutes against the run of play. Seaford’s response was instant and Mullholland went close with a low effort. With 7 minutes to go Campion, in a roving right-back role, seized on a loose ball, broke through a few challenges to arrow a superb left-footed strike into the bottom corner.
2 minutes later, Conor Geoghegan’s long pass was headed on by McGee and fell to substitute Cian McCabe, who beat one defender before low lifting an audacious lob over the stranded keeper. Larkview bounced back to score the equaliser within 3 minutes from a long-throw. Both sides declared at 3-3 as Seaford move on to Saturday’s afternoon’s trip away to MP FC.
Seaford: Barry Ensor, Gavin Walsh (Rory O'Huiginn, 80), Brian Murphy, Conor Geoghegan, Eoin Mahon, Mate Salacan (Cian McCabe, 74), Peter McGee, Jimmy Hussey (Dan Kennedy, 67), Killian Campion, Richie Mulholland, Colin Barrett (Niall Holleran, 67)
