Match Report: Knockmitten United 3-3 Seaford Rock United
LSL Sat Div 3
Defensive errors cost Seaford's seconds as they lost a two-goal lead to take home a single point from Knockmitten.
Seaford took the lead on 7 minutes when Francis Mulhall's throughball found Paddy Farrelly, who beat the offside trap to lob the ball high over the head of the Knockmitten keeper, before bouncing into the roof of the net.
The home side equalised mid way though the first half when Sean Roe's whipped cross was volleyed in at the back post by Dean Molloy.
But the visitors put themselves in a commanding position when both strikers scored within a couple of minutes late in the half. First, Daire Ralph headed home Marc Smith's diagonal ball, before Farrelly netted his second of the day, running on to a Ralph flick-on before lifting the ball over Davey Kriste and into the net for a second time. It was the first time this season that Seaford had scored more than once in a match.
Nevertheless, Knockmitten ought to have been level by the break, missing two glorious chances in the dying moments. Molloy fired over the bar from inside the six yard box after a brilliant surging run from the home side's fullback, before Kevin Bentley somehow failed to score after nicking the ball past Geoghegan before scuffing his finish with the goal at his mercy.
Seaford's luck ran out within twenty second of the restart, however, as slack defending allowed Roe to get in on goal, and although Geoghegan managed to keep out his angled shot, the ball wriggled out of his grasp for Ryan O'Leary to score.
Ralph almost got his second with a long-range rocket, before Knockmitten equalised courtesy of a moment of madness from Mulhall, who attempted top lob a 45 yard back pass to his keeper, but succeeded only in putting Bentley through on goal to make it 3-3.
It was the home side who had the best chances to grab all three points, with Dean Bollard seeing his shot deflected inches wide, before Roe's effort was cleared off the line by Adam Finnegan, but Seaford managed to hang on for a draw.
Seaford: Oisin Geoghegan; Steve Kane (c), Marc Smith, Darren Grealish, Adam Finnegan; Tommy Crichlow, Alan Brennan, Frank Mulhall, Dave Mackey; Paddy Farrelly, Daire Ralph. Goals: Farrelly (7, 33) Ralph (31)
