Match Report: Kilnamanagh 3-2 Seaford Rock United
LSL Sat Major 1
Seaford will feel the left the points behind them after coming off second best in an action-packed final quarter at Ned Kelly Park.
The first half was a dreary affair. Seaford dominated possession in the early stages, Kilnamanagh took over for a period after that, but there were few chances. From Paul Tansey's wicked corner delivery somehow evaded both Oli Wright at the near post and Sam Browne at the far as they looked to convert. Then following a brilliant tackle from Chris Monk, midfielder Adam O'Shea unleased a left-footed strike from 20 yards that had Owen Doherty at full stretch to push it past the post.
Kilnamanagh opened the scoring with their first effort at goal on 53 minutes, when Dave O'Brien whipped a wide free kick directly into the net. The same man should have been two shortly after when David Nolan put him clean through one-on-one, but Oisin Geoghegan saved with his feet and then from the rebound made a breathtaking reaction save to tip Liam Delaney's effort over the bar
There then followed four goals in less than ten minutes, which decided the outcome. When Dylen Hersee spun on a breaking ball and found the corner to make it 2-0 on 75 minutes, it looked like game over, but the Penguins recovered quickly though Mike O'Neill's powerful header from MJ Tierney's corner.
Moments later, Dave McBridge restored the Rockets' two-goal lead with a smart finish, but again the visitors fought back, as anohter Tierney delviery caused chaos in the Kilnamanagh goalmouth, with Colin Barrett forcing the ball over the goalline.
Seaford had all the ball during the final stages but struggled to fashion an opening and Kilnamanagh clung on for the win.
