Match Report: Kilnamanagh 3-1 Seaford Rock United
LSL Saturday Major 1B
Seaford's season continued to slip out of their grasp as they were well beaten by a canny Kilnamanagh outfit.
The visitors made a bright start and had the first clear opening when, from Steve Kane's throw-in, Alex Smirnoff helped the ball on to David Higgins , whose volley was straight at Mick Lonergan.
Instead, it was the men in yellow who took the lead on 16 minutes. Jay Lonergan met Craig O'Connor's corner with a back-post header, and the referee adjudged that the ball had already crossed the line before Paul Tansey hacked it away.
Kilnamanagh were on top now, with Oisin Geoghegan twice saving left-footed strikes from Dave O'Brien, but he could do nothing to stop Dave McBride making it 2-0 on 28 minutes, when a miscued shot broke kindly for the forward, who hooked it into the corner of the net.
O'Brien put the outcome beyond doubt with a well taken third early in the second half, and Seaford rarely threatened a comeback until the dying minutes, when Harry Crowe tested Lonergan with a low volley, before Stephen Kelly grabbed a consolation goal in injury time, netting at the back post after brilliant work from Ryan Scollard.
