John Bannon
Position: D LRC
In his first season with the club, John achieved the remarkable feat of playing in every single outfield position during a single season, including a couple of positions that have never been replicated on a football pitch since. He has since shown that he is a very handy goalkeeper also, saving penalties on each of his last two appearances between the sticks.
John began his Seaford career as a winger or right back, scoring a goal-of-the-season contender away at Terenure College AFC, with a meandering run infield, exchanging one-twos with two teammates before rounding the keeper and slotting home. These days, he is a rock solid centre half with great aerial ability and a calm presence on the ball, being equally comfortable using his left or right foot.
A dedicated club man, serving on the committee, he established himself as a first-team regular again in the 2015/16 season, operating at left back or centre-half as the club made its debut in LSL Sat Major 1C division, before taking the decision to hang up his boots in September 2016..
