Match Report: Home Farm 1-3 Seaford Rock United
LSL Major 1 Saturday
Seaford produced a battling display on the road to claim all three points at the AUL Complex.
Home Farm settled into their rhythm early on, enjoying plenty of possession enjoying the opening exchanges, with winger Owen Benson the architect of their most threatening attacks, such as when he was laid in by Alex Prizeman but dragged his shot just wide.
But the Penguins are known for their prowess at set piece situations and they delivered two first half goals to put them in a commanding position. First ,MJ Tierney's whipped freekick was converted at the back post by Lewis Cawley, before an Al Kennedy delivery was deflected into the net by a luckless Home Farm defender.
And it got even better for the visitors shortly after half-time when Conor Geoghegan's quick-thinking opened up the hosts' defence with a chipped free=kick. Keeper Dean Kelly won the race to the ball but was unable to deal with it convincingly and Chris Monk pounced to roll the ball into the empty net.
The 0-3 scoreline was no reflection of the balance of play, but Seaford were content to sit in and protect their advantage, while Home Farm did most of the attacking. Eoin Murray went close to pulling one back after a one-two with Cian Flynn, but fired off-target, before substitute David Pogatchnik did find the back of the net on 70 minutes, converting a cut-back from 12 yards.
The hosts had plenty of the ball in the final stages but Oisin Geoghegan was well protected by his dogged back-four and Seaford held on to claim a first win of the campaign.
