Match Report: Glenville 3-0 Seaford FC
LSL Major 1
Seaford’s miserable season continued. as three late goals consigned Seaford to another defeat.
There hadn’t been much between the sides until the closing stages, with the Penguins turning in a much improved display, but after a bright first half showing, it was Glenville who finished stronger to claim the points.
Glenville has the first opening as David Cunningham squared for Samuel Sinnott, whose effort was parried away by Oisin Geoghegan.
At the other end, Ryan Scollard almost scored within five minutes of his return to action, racing on to an Al Kennedy’s ball, but his lob was just wide. Scollard was inches from converting on the spin following a Rob O’Shea corner, as Seaford had the better of the first-half chances.
Both keepers were tested by long-range efforts early in the second, from Kyle Hogan and Tomo Murphy respectively, but goalmouth action was in short supply.
Seaford had a let-off when Joshua Mahady was adjudged offside when converting Lord Agyapong‘a header, but the Penguins’ luck ran out on 81 minutes when some sloppy marking facilitated a chance for Matthew O’Donnell who made no mistake.
The visitors made aggressive substitutions and poured forward in search of an equaliser, but two late goals put an emphasis on the scoreline that the balance of play scarcely merited. Dan Keegan was unlucky to divert a cross into his own net, before Eoin McCann smashed in a third on the counter-attack
