Match Report: Dunboyne 1-4 Seaford Rock United
LSL Saturday Major 1C
Seaford Rock United returned to winning ways after a few chastening defeats in recent weeks to triumph 4-1 away to Dunboyne AFC in the autumn sunshine.
The visitors made a slow start and could have been behind early on. Gavin Farrell’s long range drive went just over the bar and forward James Rogers's diagonal run got in behind the Seaford back four but he was denied by Stephen Kelly in goal.
Dunboyne began to drop off and the visitors' midfield played their way into the game. Des Eiffe hit the crossbar after a deft lob from Eoin Kenny’s Delap-esque throw-in. Kenny then shot wide after being played in by Eiffe. Dan Willis went close from 12 yards but his shot was blocked.
On 37mins, the Penguins took the lead. Robbie Murray’s free-kick was met on the money by Willis to score his first goal for the club. Eiffe nearly grabbed a second on half-time but after rounding the keeper, his shot trickled wide from a narrow angle. 1-0 at the break.
Seaford got the goal their play deserved on 58 mins. With virtually his first touch, substitute Niall Holleran beat his full-back and floated in an inch-perfect cross for Eiffe to head in the goal his performance merited. Rogers immediately replied for the hosts to make it 2-1 on the hour mark.
Within seven minutes, the maroons restored their two-goal lead when Willis got to the by-line to square for Holleran to open his account for the season.
Kelly saved well from an Alan Cosgrave free-kick but the away side finished stronger and Holleran completed the scoring with the last kick of the game. Debutant Finn O’Neill’s pace took him clean through and he rounded the keeper, with his shot hitting the post and Holleran pounced to make it four.
Seaford: Stephen Kelly, Zitian Xiang, Aaron Clarke, Luke Hedderman, Robbie Murray, Mate Salacan (Espoire Lutete, 72) Paddy Brogan, Eoin Kenny (Niall Holleran, 56), Rob O'Shea (FInn O'Neill, 83) Desmond Eiffe (Shane Gilroy , 66) Dan Willis (Mario Dominguez 76)
